WLAN Transmission Speeds in Japan to Increase Significantly
November 17, 2006
Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is expected to remove restrictions on WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) services in May 2007, enabling faster WLAN data transmission equal to that of fiber-optic networks. Current WLAN speeds are at around 10 Mbps, and can be enhanced ten times. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is also devising plans to bring high-speed Internet connectivity to all Japanese households by fiscal 2010.
